Tanner's z-bars

Tanner wanted some z-bars, Tanner works at Eastern Boarder, Tanner shall get some z-bars.  First picture is with a 9" lower outside width, second is 8", third is 7.5".  Just wanted to give you some options, Tanner.

Stainless t-bars

These are the replacements for the old bars from my shovelhead.  Decided to go with something simple.  Don't worry, I'll narrow them when they're installed.  My friend Herb will be bummed that I designed these by using traits of two sets of bars he owns.  Sorry buddy, props to you for having a good eye.

Vintage sheetmetal

Got this vintage Paughco mustang from a friend for helping him with his current build.  It needs some tlc, but it'll rise from the ashes.

Ros's tank mods

Shop is clean enough to snap a couple pics today.  Ros sent me a Cole Foster tank he wanted to modify a while ago.  I'm probably opening up a huge can of worms here, but here goes.  In my opinion, these tanks have only looked good on Cole's builds or people who've decided to copy his build style.  This tank looked so amazing on the "blue bobber", everything on that bike fit so perfect.  I've seen these tanks bolted onto stock bikes, special construction choppers, and other customs, and it always misses the mark.  Hopefully I can do Mr. Foster's original design proud by modifying his tank to fit a frisco chopper feel.

Aw shit

New posts coming soon, been too busy to clean the shop well enough for some finished work pics.  Sorry for stale blog.

Pitoniak Cycle

I took a trip out to Belchertown, MA this morning to drop off my motor to Rich Pitoniak for a check-up and freshening of the top end.  I met Rich briefly on  last summer's Gypsy Run and got to check out his super clean rigid gen-shovel up close and personal.  The detail of this bike runs deep and is completely show quality, and it's his daily ride.  Full machine shop capabilities make this shop a sight for sore eyes among the ordinary, bolt on, shiny bit shit-show shops out there.  Anyone that can humbly show me bits, pieces, and complete weapons he and his Dad machined and designed can rebuild my shovel motor anytime.  Rich kept apologizing to me about how dirty his shop was, to me it's a sign of a hard worker.  Thanks for the shop tour Rich, and happy birthday!

Hap Jones

Lowered the tunnel, put in a new bung and vented cap, and reinforced the bottom.   Now she sits up high.  Haven't put the mounts on yet, but I'll add a pic when I do.

Banana, the final chapter

Got the rest of the work done re-birthing the banana.  Tunnel, tab mounts, bottom reinforcement, fuel filler, and the new "Special79" stamp tag.  Ready for mocking up on Herb's pan-shovel.

Frisco, not narrowed tank

I haven't done one of these in a while, a friscoed 2.4 gal stock width tank.  This one retained the stock size cap and bung.  To me, the smaller caps look silly on a stock width tank.  This tank is being held for Chico's buddy for a few days to see if he digs it when he gets back.  SOLD

Daniel's tank

I know you've all seen a narrowed sportster tank, but I'm posting pics anyway.  I've talked with Daniel a bunch while this tank was being built and it sounds like he's got a good thing going with bikes, friends, and riding in New Mexico.  The package is on it's way!

knockturnprojects t design

Here's the 2nd installment of t-shirt designs done by Kris Hendershott of knockturnprojects.  This was 1 of 6 ideas he came up with for me when I asked for his expertise, all of them kicked ass.  Here's a couple pics of a sample screen I put on a couple Dickies work shirts.  I'll be printing some more work shirts and t-shirts with this design soon.  Thanks Kris, you're a ruler.

Shells

I told Daniel that I'd show him some pics of his tank progress once I had the shell done, so here it is.  Should be buttoned up on Monday.

Swap tank

Went to Stafford swap last Sunday, got rained on.  I did find a Hap Jones peanut that I'm rehabbing.  It had awful flat square tab mounts and it's fair share of small dents, but has plenty of potential.

save the banana pt.2

Got a little welding done on Herb's tank today, filled in the old tunnel areas so they'll be raised detail areas once bodywork and paint are done.  I hope he hates it.

Q:  What's the last thing a redneck says before he dies?
A: "Hold my beer, watch this!"
Q: What's the last thing he hears?
A: "You're doin' it dude!!!"

Tod's spot

I spent the good part of Tuesday working on some screens and printing some t-shirts at my good friend Tod's screen printing lair.  The space he works out of makes me drool, I want to put all my metalworking equipment in there.  I've got new shirt designs on the way... stay tuned.
