Business end

This will be the termination point of the Buell rigid de-rake exhaust project.  Stainless reverse meg from Dime City Cycles.  Nicely built for much cheaper than I could make it.

"Roche Coach" feature on Chopcult

The fine people at Chopcult have been kind enough to do a feature on the SPCL'79 ironhead dubbed the "Roche Coach". Check it out on Chopcult here if you have a minute or two to check some pics and read my ramblings.

Internal

Got the internal throttle done for the Buell de-rake project.  A little love on the brake lever and it should look the way I envisioned it.

Bars

I've been slacking on the blog, sorry people! If anyone is in the market for some new handlebars, I'll be updating my Big Cartel web store with these bar designs.

Lower that thang.

Lower that stock bayonet filler neck so it sits down all tight and pretty.

Old time hockey

Hot Summer New England weather can be handled a couple ways.  Go for a cool night time ride on the bike or walk into a nice cold rink to play some hockey.  Both of them make you feel young again if even just for a little while.

Chopping some shovel tanks

Chopping a set of repop shovel tanks for Dennis F's goosenecked/digger-ish build.

Dennis's ironhead

Getting the bones all set on this build.  Just picked up the springer front end from Jay and Wayne at Acme Choppers and I couldn't be happier.

BF5 video by Jake Krotje of FlyingDutchman Co.

My friend Jake Krotje put this video together from some footage he took at Born Free 5 this year.  The day was a blur for me so it was good to see this to refresh my memory.  Now I just need to get back out to CA so I can learn some metal shaping skills from him:)

Buell Derake

Went down to Mike 47's place last week to do some evil to a sportster engine cradle.  One customized 47 Industries evo sportster hardtail, the stock engine cradle, some backbone and front leg craftiness, a Buell neck, and we end up with a de-raked up and out hard tail frame to fit my Lightning lump into.  Thanks for the added brainpower from Mike and some frame spec sharing by Andy Carter at Pangea Speed.  You two fellas are rulers!

She is for sale

The SPCL'79 Ironhead is up for sale.  If you have any interest and are a serious buyer you can reach me at roche.special.79@gmail.com

I do have some interest in trades (plus cash) but only Chevy/GMC xcab trucks with a 8 ft bed and/or a nice van.  I'm not interested in anything with rust or a project

Time to clean the home shop

Back from Born Free 5 and...

... Show Class People's Champ.  Really great time and totally overwhelming to the moto senses.  Bummed that Jordan Dickinson's pan didn't get there in time to be voted on because that bike was insanely well designed.  Congrats to everyone involved and especially Bobby Good Times for his winning knucklehead!  I felt a bit like I showed up with the proverbial "knife to a gun fight" with the ironhead, so some fine tuning is to come.  Thank you so much to the people that made it all possible, my loving wife, Mike and Tim @ Show Class Mag.  Mike, Grant, and all  builders, sponsors and hard working crew that made BF5 such an amazingly good time.  Thank you Kim and Frances for putting me up and not kicking me out for drinking all your coffee for almost a full week!
