Back in the early to late 80's, my cousin Jay Roche raced as a privateer in the 750 superbike class. The summers I spent hanging out in the pits with my Dad and cousin Jay were instrumental in fueling my love for motorcycles and turning wrenches. Aloe and lanolin hand cleaner is still one of my favorite smells to this day. This pic is from 1984 or 85, Loudon Raceway, exiting turn 6.

Lunch break mock-up

Took a couple minutes to start thinking about the ironhead exhaust. Very rough mock-up with super tech electrical tape mounts.

OIF fender struts

Finished mounting the duckbill and had to whip up some struts to cut down on vibrational cracking.

'74 ironhead build

I originally hardtailed this frame for a customer who became more involved with a shovel build, so I took it over as a SPCL79 shop project. I'm pretty exited about the way it's shaping up and can't wait to burn the midnight oil and get the rest of the fabrication done so I can go through the motor and trans to check things out. After I finish this bike I'm going to put on a chunk of shakedown miles and then it's going up for sale. Anyone who has interest in purchasing this machine and would like to have input on paint and some other details can contact me @ roche.special.79@gmail.com

Been busy...

... so I'll post this pic of the finished swingarm shovel project. I want to ride it in the next rollerball tournament and give block support for Jonathan E.

Mounting blocks

Got the front mounting blocks trimmed up for Shaun's tank.

Mocking it up

Shawn sent me a tank he wants me to reproduce due to some leaks and paint issues. I need to make it fit his existing custom mounts and bent backbone. The only way to be sure it'll fit is to make a backbone that fits the original tank and build the new tank around it. More to come.
