lesson learned

I should have known there was a weak point in the original design when I looked at a set of old split tanks and the front lower mount had been repaired previously. Well, I went ahead and solid mounted the flatside tanks I narrowed and low and behold, that mount cracked while I was on the GR4. Thanks to Mike47 for the use of his equipment to repair the mount before the ride home.

Tanks are now completely rubber mounted, lesson learned.

Typically they only crack if you don't shim em super careful.

Yes, that was the issue. I tore down the top end a few days before a long run and must not have shimmed them correctly in my haste to get the bike back together.
