Quick fixture

I often find myself working on tanks for people that need them to fit a particular mount setup, stock, custom, or a mixture of both. I usually build a backbone to meet the specs of the job but I have an idea of a backbone that will have different interchangeable front and rear mounts, adding more as different jobs come through.

Hardtailin'

Got the hardtail section in from Led Sled, it's going to be a nice addition to the Barnstorm Cycles/SPCL'79 fabrication Sportster project. We thought long and hard about building our own rear section but the point of this build is to document the building of a budget custom and it just made more sense to use an existing product from a reputable company like Led Sled. I believe showing the installation of the hardtail will be more helpful to the garage builder rather than overwhelming them with tubing benders and other specialized tools/machinery we'd have used building one from scratch. Hopefully the tech features in Show Class mag and Chop Cult will provide at least 1 person the info and drive to chop up their stock frame:)

Iron mids inkage

Finished the linkage to convert the '74 ironhead from right side shift over to left. I never really liked the look of the long swooping stock pedal that was the brake (or shift pedal in '75ish and later) so I put a pivot up near the peg. Right now the vertical pivot arms are too tall in my eyes but once I replace the trans shifter shaft to work with this setup, I'll know how much linkage throw is needed for the right shifter "feel" and be shortening them.

The backside

Decided to close up the top backside of the fairing for some reason. I'm just going with the flow.

Added the rib and the top side mounts.

Well, maybe not fast, but a 10 day auction. It may not even sell at all but that's okay, I'm in no real hurry.

Started adding some sides to the fairing. Whenever I do work like this I feel like I do more thinking and staring than actual fabrication.
